The Board of Directors of the Foundation for Australian Studies in China (FASIC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Angela Lehmann as the Chair of FASIC, effective from 1 September 2023. 

Dr Lehmann is a leading voice in the Australia-China education and research relationship and has published widely on China-Australia’s education relationship, student mobility, cross-cultural understanding and student experience. She speaks regularly at conferences and symposia about international education and China-Australia higher education ties. She has published in mainstream, industry and policy platforms on a range of issues. 

Dr Lehmann is the Head of Research at The Lygon Group, an international education consultancy firm where she provides insight and analysis on the Australia-China research and education relationship to institutions and government. She also holds the position of Vice President of the Australia China Business Council’s Australian Capital Territory branch and has previously worked with Universities Australia in Canberra.

Dr Lehmann was awarded a PhD in sociology from the Australian National University. She has previously been a research and teaching academic at The University of Xiamen, China, and holds honorary positions at both The University of Xiamen and The Australian National University. 

The FASIC Board thanks Mr Kevin Hobgood-Brown AM, the outgoing Chair, for his tremendous contributions to FASIC as Chair. Mr Hobgood-Brown will continue to serve as a director of FASIC’s Board.
