ACTS 10 & FASIC 9 Call for Papers

FASIC and the Institute for Australian and Chinese Arts and Culture at Western Sydney University along with the Beijing Foreign Studies University are announcing two international conferences 10th Australia-China Transcultural Studies Symposium & 9th Foundation for Australian Studies in China Conference (ACTS 10 & FASIC 9), to be held from 3 October to 6 October 2024, at Western Sydney University, Australia.

The Foundation for Australian Studies in China (FASIC) along with the BHP Chair holds annual academic conferences to discuss current research, reflect on recent Australia-China engagement achievements and identify opportunities for the further development of knowledge ties.

The 7th FASIC International Conference: Innovative Partnerships: Australia and China Engagement in Education, Science and Technology

was held from 21-23 November 2019 at the University of Sydney Centre in China, Suzhou. This conference is hosted by the University of Sydney Centre in China, located in Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP) Dushu Lake Science and Education Innovation District. Click here for more details.

2018
The 6th FASIC International Conference: Global Connections: Space, Place and Shared Destiny

was held from 1-4 November at Sichuan Normal University, Chengdu, China. This conference was hosted in partnership with Australian Studies Centre at Sichuan Normal University, and co-organised by the School of International Studies at Peking University. Click here for more details. 

The 6th FASIC conference brought together over 60 scholars from a range of academics to share knowledge and mutual understanding by highlighting recent research on Australia and to promote Australian Studies as an international, lively, and engaging field of inquiry. The Conference is an exciting place for the many participant academics, researchers, postgraduate and other students to engage in the debates. Global Connections: Space, Place and Shared Destiny built upon previous conferences’ narrations of connectivity between Australia and China, whilst aiming to address new and unchartered areas of timely discussion.                                                                                                                                    

2017
The 5th FASIC International Conference: Transnational Connectivity 

was held from 1-3 November 2017 at Jiangsu Normal University, Xuzhou. This conference is hosted in partnership with Australian Studies Centre at Jiangsu Normal University, and co-organised by the Australian Studies Centre at Peking University. Click here for more details.

The 5th FASIC Conference explored the Transnational Connectivity in Australia-China relations in terms of history, culture, geography, international relations, economics, tourism, immigration, Belt and Road visions, and societal dynamics. It brought together over 70 scholars from a diversity of academic backgrounds –showcasing research on peoples, places and new perspectives, with the aim of enhancing the understanding between the two countries.

 

2016 
The 4th FASIC International Conference: Sustainability: Social and Environmental Issues 

was held from 16-18 November 2016 at Sun Yat-sen University, Guangzhou. This conference is hosted in partnership with the Centre for Australian Studies and the Center for Oceanian Studies at Sun Yat-sen University, and co-organised by the Australian Studies Centre at Peking University.
